The 61st edition of the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival witnessed the presence of prominent political leaders, including the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, who joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other state governors at the historic celebration in Kebbi State.

Governor Uzodimma, alongside his counterparts from various states, attended the grand cultural event as a show of solidarity and national unity. Their presence underscored the importance of the Argungu Festival as a unifying platform that transcends regional boundaries and promotes Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity.
The governors were received by the host governor, Nasir Idris, who expressed appreciation for their participation and support. He described the festival as a symbol of peace, collaboration, and shared prosperity, noting that culture and agriculture remain critical pillars for sustainable development.

The Argungu Festival, globally renowned for its traditional fishing competition and colourful cultural displays, attracted dignitaries, investors, and tourists from across the country and beyond. Observers noted that the attendance of multiple governors reflects a collective commitment among Nigeria’s subnational leaders to promote tourism, preserve cultural heritage, and strengthen inter-state cooperation.

Speaking on the significance of the event, stakeholders emphasized that gatherings of this magnitude not only celebrate tradition but also create opportunities for economic growth, job creation, and social integration.

The 61st edition of the festival once again reaffirmed its status as one of Africa’s most iconic cultural gatherings, highlighting the role of unity and collaborative governance in advancing Nigeria’s development agenda.
