The high-level engagement served as a platform for the MPB Chairman to brief the Defence Minister on the current operational status of the Board while reinforcing the longstanding institutional synergy between the Military Pensions Board and the Ministry of Defence. The visit underscores the sustained commitment of military leadership to prioritizing the welfare and post-service wellbeing of retired Armed Forces personnel.
During the meeting, Air Vice Marshal Abdulraheem highlighted the Board’s ongoing initiatives and challenges in the administration of military pensions, stressing the need for enhanced collaboration with the Ministry to build a more efficient, transparent, and responsive pension management system.

He formally sought the Ministry’s expanded support in driving reforms aimed at modernizing pension administration in line with global best practices.
According to the MPB Chairman, aligning the Board’s operations with international standards is critical to ensuring seamless service delivery and effectively addressing the evolving needs of military retirees and their dependents. He emphasized that a robust and technology-driven framework would significantly improve the timeliness and efficiency of pension payments and other entitlements.

Air Vice Marshal Abdulraheem reaffirmed the Board’s unwavering commitment to honoring the sacrifices of Nigeria’s veterans through improved service delivery, accountability, and institutional reforms designed to enhance trust and satisfaction among beneficiaries.

In his response, the Honourable Minister of Defence commended the Military Pensions Board for its dedication to veteran welfare and assured the Chairman of the Ministry’s continued support. He reiterated the Ministry’s resolve to work closely with the Board to strengthen pension administration and ensure that retired military personnel receive the care and recognition they deserve after years of dedicated service to the nation.

The visit reflects the broader policy focus of the Ministry of Defence on strengthening welfare structures across the Armed Forces, particularly for veterans whose contributions remain central to Nigeria’s peace, security, and stability.
