Dr. Amb. Peter Nwogur, Chairman and Convener of the Christian Defense Support Group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), has reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the administration as a stabilizing force steering Nigeria toward peace, unity, and economic recovery.
Dr. Nwogur made these remarks while receiving members of the National Assembly Press Corps during a scheduled courtesy visit to his office, an engagement that later evolved into an extensive interaction with journalists.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Nwogur said his support for President Tinubu is rooted in long-standing personal conviction rather than political convenience. He described the president as a leader of “proven integrity and resilience,” noting Tinubu’s history in opposition politics and his consistent advocacy for national unity and democratic values.
“
President Tinubu has demonstrated uncommon courage and commitment to Nigeria, even in the face of adversity,” Dr. Nwogur stated. “His political journey reflects endurance, principle, and an unwavering belief in the Nigerian project.”
A key focus of Dr. Nwogur’s remarks was the state of national security. He pointed to what he described as a noticeable improvement in public safety, particularly during the recent Christmas and New Year holidays, which passed without major security incidents in many parts of the country.
According to him, the absence of widespread reports of bombings or mass kidnappings during the festive period signals a deliberate and strategic approach to security under the current administration.
“Peace is the foundation of development,” he said. “The relative calm experienced during the festive season did not happen by chance; it reflects focused leadership and coordinated security efforts.”
Dr. Nwogur added that enhanced security has restored public confidence and enabled families and communities to celebrate without fear.
On the economy, Dr. Nwogur acknowledged that President Tinubu inherited significant fiscal and structural challenges but commended the administration for implementing bold reforms aimed at long-term stability.
He noted that while some of the measures initially posed difficulties for citizens, emerging indicators suggest gradual improvement, including renewed investor interest, efforts at economic diversification, and steps toward macroeconomic stabilization.
The reforms may be tough, but they are necessary,” he said. “What we are beginning to see now are early signs of recovery and a more sustainable economic direction.”
Dr. Nwogur also commented on developments within opposition parties, including recent political realignments. While critical of what he described as a lack of ideological consistency among some opposition figures, he emphasized that constructive criticism and democratic competition remain essential to national growth.
He urged political actors to prioritize national interest over personal ambition, stressing that Nigeria’s progress requires unity, responsible leadership, and issue-based politics.
Call for National Unity
Concluding his remarks, Dr. Nwogur called on Nigerians across religious and political divides to support initiatives that promote peace, stability, and development.
“This is a time for collective responsibility,” he said. “Nigeria’s future depends on our willingness to support leadership that is focused on security, economic renewal, and national cohesion.”
