Christmas Cheers: Edo First Lady’s Office Celebrates Ossiomo Leprosy Home with Food Donations

 In the spirit of the Christmas season, the Office of the First Lady of Edo State has extended humanitarian support to inmates of the Ossiomo Leprosy Home, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to caring for vulnerable members of society.

The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, led the initiative, which saw the distribution of food items to inmates of the Ossiomo Leprosy Home located in Ogan Community, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.
Mrs. Anani explained that the gesture was aimed at ensuring that the inmates celebrate Christmas with joy, dignity, and a renewed sense of belonging. She noted that the festive season is a time to share love, compassion, and support, particularly with the less privileged.

According to her, the outreach reflects the Office’s deep concern for the wellbeing of vulnerable groups and aligns with the broader vision of the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to ensure that the dividends of good governance reach every segment of society.
She further emphasized that the administration remains committed to improving citizens’ welfare through inclusive and people-centered initiatives.
Mrs. Anani was represented at the event by the Chief Protocol Officer, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Mabel Obetoh, who reiterated the Office’s unwavering dedication to humanitarian service and community support across the state.
Expressing appreciation, the Chairman of the Ossiomo Leprosy Home, Mr. Isicheri Olata, described the visit as a moment of divine significance, noting that the donation brought immense joy and hope to the inmates.
Similarly, the woman leader of the home, Mrs. Elizabeth Osaro, commended the Edo State Government for its continuous support, thanking the Office of the First Lady for its sustained interventions aimed at improving the welfare of the inmates.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of one cow and fifteen 50kg bags of rice to the inmates, a gesture that underscored the Office of the First Lady’s compassion and commitment to supporting the Ossiomo Leprosy Home, especially during the festive period.
