Jalingo, Nigeria 2025
The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has announced the postponement of his scheduled official movement to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the recent abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State as the reason for the decision.
Security Crisis Overshadows Planned Political Move
In an official statement issued on Monday, Governor Kefas said that the disturbing kidnapping incident has cast a shadow over political activities, making it morally necessary to delay any major event until the situation improves.
He described the tragedy as a “deeply troubling incident” that demands national attention, empathy, and unity.
“This Is Not a Time for Celebration” — Governor Kefas
Governor Kefas emphasized that the safety and wellbeing of Nigerian children must take precedence over politics.
“At a moment when our nation is confronted with the painful reality of insecurity, solidarity and compassion must rise above politics,” he said.
“The safety of our children — the most vulnerable and precious members of our society — is far more important than any political activity.”
The Governor expressed heartfelt sympathy to the families of the abducted schoolgirls and extended his support to the Government and people of Kebbi State.
Call for National Unity and Security Action
Describing himself as a father and leader committed to security and education, Kefas stressed that Nigeria must rally together in prayer, vigilance, and collective resolve.
He urged security agencies to intensify operations to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped children and called on Nigerians to remain calm and united during this difficult period.
New Date To Be Announced Later
Governor Kefas noted that a new date for his political declaration will be communicated after due consultations and at an appropriate time.
He concluded his statement with prayers for national healing and restoration:
“May God protect our daughters.
May God heal our land.
May God restore peace to every part of Nigeria.”
