Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has officially announced the postponement of his scheduled declaration and movement to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The decision follows the heartbreaking kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, an incident that has once again thrown the nation into mourning.
In a solemn statement released today, Governor Kefas said the security and wellbeing of Nigerian children take precedence over any political activity.
“At a moment when our nation is confronted with the painful reality of insecurity, solidarity and compassion must rise above politics,” he said.
“The safety of our children — the most vulnerable and precious members of our society — is far more important than any political ceremony.”
The governor expressed deep sympathy for the families of the abducted girls, the Government and people of Kebbi State, and all Nigerians affected by the tragedy.
As a father and leader, he emphasized that suspending all major political engagements is both morally right and nationally responsible, especially as his administration prioritizes security, education, and the protection of vulnerable groups.
Governor Kefas called on security agencies to intensify efforts toward the safe return of the kidnapped schoolgirls, urging Nigerians to remain calm, prayerful, united, and vigilant during this difficult time.
He added that a new date for his political movement will be announced after appropriate consultations.
“This is not a time for celebration. It is a time for reflection, prayer, unity, and collective action.”
The governor concluded with prayers for the safe return of the abducted children and for peace across Nigeria.
