AWKA SOUTH COUNCIL REMODELS SECRETARIAT FOR ENHANCED SERVICE DELIVERY — COUNCIL SECRETARY
The Secretary of Awka South Local Government Council, Hon Sir Peter Uyanwune, has commended the impactful developmental strides achieved under the leadership of the Council Chairman Chinedu Okafor. Speaking to journalists at the Council Secretariat in Awka, Hon. Uyanwune highlighted a series of improvements carried out despite limited financial resources.
According to him, the Chairman has successfully remodelled the Council Secretariat, giving it a modern and more functional appearance. He further noted that the Secretariat now enjoys 24-hour power supply, made possible through the installation of solar energy systems as an alternative power source by the Chairman.
In addition to infrastructural upgrades, Hon. Uyanwune revealed that the Council has undertaken palliative works on major roads within and around Awka South to ease transportation challenges. He also mentioned scholarship awards for indigent students from the local government area, as well as the upgrade of primary healthcare facilities, all of which contributed significantly to the welfare of residents.
Hon. Uyanwune attributed the recent electoral victory of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the area to the outstanding performance of His Excellency, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, during his first tenure. He expressed optimism that the Governor’s second term would bring even greater development to Awka South and Anambra State at large.
The achievements outlined by the Council Secretary reflect a commitment to improved governance and service delivery in Awka South. With continued efforts from both the Local Government Chairman and the State Government, residents can look forward to sustained progress and enhanced quality of life.
