Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday, November 24, 2025, formally obtained his African Democratic Congress (ADC) membership card at the Jada 1 Ward in Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State, marking his full entry into the coalition party.

Atiku was registered by Sen. Sadiq Yar’Adua, National Secretary of the ADC Registration and Mobilisation Committee, who led officials of the party to oversee the exercise.

Speaking after the registration, Atiku declared that the move signaled the beginning of what he described as “the real opposition,” vowing to work with other political leaders to unseat the ruling APC.

“Now I have picked my membership card of the ADC. Now, the real opposition has begun. We will work in concert with other leaders of the opposition and Nigerians to chase the APC out of government,” he said.

The former vice president also urged his supporters and Nigerians who believe in “reclaiming and rebuilding the country” to register with the ADC.

ADC state chairman, Hon. Shehu Yohanna, who participated in the registration, said Atiku’s entry marks the official kickoff of the party’s statewide membership drive across all local governments and wards. He encouraged youths and women to take advantage of the opportunity to join the party.

Sen Yar’Adua echoed the call and urged Nigerians to ensure they register to vote ahead of future elections.

The event drew major political figures from the Adamawa Coalition, including former governor Bindow Jibrilla, Senator Aishatu Binani, Senator Ahmed Hassan Barata, Senator Aziz Nyako, and Senator Ishaku Abbo, signaling a united front behind Atiku.
