Abuja, Nigeria — The Renewed Hope Grassroot Movement on Saturday held its official inauguration and maiden public lecture at the Merit House in Abuja, drawing grassroots mobilizers and political stakeholders from across the country.
Speaking to journalists at the event, the Deputy National Woman Leader of the movement, Hajiya Princess Amina Lentena Muhammed, stated that the gathering marked the beginning of a national mobilisation effort in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
We are here for the inauguration of the grassroots movement for the Tinubu 2027 campaign,” she said. “This is to assure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of our full support as he seeks a second tenure in office. We are behind him come 2027.”
Hajiya Muhammed noted that while the country is facing economic challenges, President Tinubu has shown commitment to rebuilding the nation and reversing years of decline. She urged Nigerians to be patient and supportive of the administration’s policies.
“You know how Nigeria was before PBAT came into power. Since he assumed office, he has been trying his best to return Nigeria to its past glory. When the wall of a building cracks, it takes time to rebuild. He inherited a lot of problems, and people are crying over issues like high food prices and the rising dollar. But he is working to fix it. It cannot be done overnight,” she explained.
She particularly highlighted the removal of fuel subsidy as a bold but necessary step, urging Nigerians to endure temporary hardship for long-term benefits. “Even I buy fuel at a high price, but we understand that it's a sacrifice for a better future. The suffering is not permanent,” she said.
Hajiya Muhammed also appealed to President Tinubu to prioritise women and youth inclusion in governance as preparations for 2027 begin. “Women are mothers of the nation, and without women, there is no country. Men cannot stand alone. We are like the breadwinners behind them,” she stated.
She further emphasized the importance of youth involvement, describing them as intelligent, tech-savvy, and vital to the future of Nigerian politics. “They are the leaders of tomorrow. Their intelligence surpasses that of their fathers. They must be listened to,” she said.
The Renewed Hope Grassroot Movement aims to mobilise citizens at the grassroots level to support ongoing government efforts and ensure continuity in 2027.
