EDO STATE FIRST LADY:MRS EDESILI OKPEBHOLO ANANI ACKNOWLEDGES LADY MECHANIC INITIATIVE IMPACT ON WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT THROUGH TECHNICAL TRAINING.

Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady in Edo State, has expressed her commendation for Engr. Sandra Aguebor, MFR, founder of the Lady Mechanic Initiative, is recognized for her steadfast dedication to empowering women through practical vocational training in mechanical engineering and technology.

During a recent visit, Mrs. Anani conveyed her admiration for Aguebor’s vision and determination, as well as the substantial achievements of the initiative in helping young women attain economic independence.

“Your dedication and hard work have paid off, and I’m thrilled to see the impact. Thank you for being a role model and showing what can be achieved with determination and perseverance,” remarked Mrs. Anani.

“This programme is a clear demonstration of the power of collaboration and vision. We are proud of what you have accomplished,” she further noted.

She disclosed that the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo remains committed to programmes that promote self-reliance among women and girls, as well as  creating opportunities that elevate women across the state.

Anani also highlighted that not fewer than 50 young women have successfully completed training in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion—a progressive and environmentally friendly skill that fosters economic empowerment and sustainability.

In response, Engr. Sandra Aguebor, MFR, expressed her gratitude for the support received and reaffirmed the mission of the initiative: to equip women with valuable skills in mechanics and alternative energy conversion, thereby reducing their vulnerability to poverty and social challenges.

Additionally, she announced that the graduation ceremony for the newly trained participants is scheduled for Friday, July 4, 2025, at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City.

Founded originally in Lagos, the Lady Mechanic Initiative has expanded its reach to 20 states across Nigeria, providing thousands of women and girls with opportunities to learn, earn, and make meaningful contributions to society.
